Butchart Gardens (Victoria, BC) (15)

Shortly after arriving in Victoria, Vancouver Island we visited Butchart Gardens.

Butchart is a world renown garden built partially on a former limestone quarry.

We enjoyed our walking tour of the garden immensely. If you can appreciate decades of work done by mother nature and man, the pictures that follow speak for themselves.

The garden has a view of the bay beyond.

This evening we plan to explore Victoria. We have been told the city lights are amazing.

Gardening requires lots of water - most of it in the form of perspiration. ~Lou Erickson~

  1. Hi,

Just so you know the Sunken Garden was the actual quarry site. The area around the former Butchart Gardens residence, the Italian Garden, the Rose Garden and the Japanese Garden were not quarried.

Glad to read you had a nice visit.

  2. Thanks Graham, I am more than happy to make the correction! The garden was nothing short of spectatular!
