Seattle (19)

Last night we drove into Seattle around 10 pm to see the city after dark. Seattle is a vibrant, happening place, with a very active night life. The city has a warm feel to it after dark, and is full of lights. It is well worth taking the time to see it.

This morning we waited until after the rush hour, and then drove back into downtown Seattle.

The first site on our agenda was the Pikes Place Public Market in downtown Seattle.

If you love fresh markets, you would love this place! It is filled with fresh produce, fresh fish, fresh flowers , and just about anything else you can imagine! I have never seen the variety of produce and fish I found here.

This pig is the market mascot. People come from all over to have their picture taken sitting on it.

Pike Place Fish . If you have ever watched the Food Network, or some of the other Travel Channel shows, you have probably seen them throw fish at this stand.

Every kind of flower imaginable can be found in Pikes Place.

Have you ever heard of a Doughnut Peach? They are delicious!

Fresh Seafood? You name it, they have it!

Carolyn and I wandered around in Pikes Market most of the morning.

The next time you see Carolyn, be sure to ask her about her "Throw Down with the Dungeness Crab".

The market is a huge tourist attaction and is packed with people. Vendors stalls can be found both inside the market and along the nearby streets.

Street bands play for tips. This one was very good!

Early in the afternoon, we circled to the west side of the harbor and had a late lunch at Salty's On Alki Beach.

There is none better than the "Million Dollar" view from Salty's. As usual, the seafood was excellent!

After lunch/dinner, we continued our adventures in downtown Seattle, including a trip to the top of The Space Needle.

Even more amazing 360 degree views!

No less than four cruise ships were docked in Seattle.

Late in the afternoon, we reluctantly left Seattle, headed south on I-5, Friday afternoon, in rush hour traffic! Wow, was that a mistake! Neither of us have ever seen that kind of a traffic jam.

We drove a grand total of 60 miles before we finally gave up and found a motel room.
